Incarcerated music executive Jimmy “Henchman” Rosemond is once again making headlines as new reports claim he has been indicted on additional federal charges following a recent drug ring accusation.
Weekend reports reveal the music exec’s latest legal woes tie him into weapons charges.
Federal prosecutors in New York unveiled new and potentially damaging charges against hip hop talent agent James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond, indicting him for allegedly possessing a sub-machine gun and silencer. Rosemond already faces drug trafficking charges that were announced in June, but the new allegations come in an expanded superseding indictment that includes the weapons violations. “It adds several gun charges,” Assistant US Attorney Todd Kaminsky told a federal judge today, referring to the new indictment. Brooklyn federal prosecutors are accusing the music impresario of illegally possessing a Mac-11 sub-machine gun and a Ruger 9mmm semi-automatic pistol. (New York Post)
Additional reporting claims Rosemond has sought out the help of renowned attorney Gerald Shargel, known for representing late mafia member John Gotti.
To defend himself from the cocaine and machine gun charges, Rosemond has retained the services of high-powered attorney Gerald Shargel. “This is my kind of case and it is my privilege to represent Jimmy,” Gerald Shargel told AllHipHop.com, while remaining tightlipped about the defense strategy for obvious reasons. Rosemond could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison on the machine gun charges alone, while he is facing life in prison for allegedly running a continuous criminal enterprise. (All Hip Hop)
Prior to Interscope’s denial, the iconic record label was linked to Jimmy Henchman in a cocaine operation.
Federal officials say these are findings from a year-long Drug Enforcement Administration investigation, the same investigation that led to the indictment of Czar Entertainment CEO and Game manager James Rosemond on 18 felony charges that could result in having him sentenced to life in prison. TSG further reports that while its unclear how the players in the narcotics ring had access to Interscope’s offices, the Game records on the label and his road manager has been named in the trafficking plot. Rosemond is currently being held without bail in Manhattan’s Metropolitan Correctional Center in Lower Manhattan. (XXL Mag)
After going on the run for drug-related charges last spring, Rosemond was eventually arrested over the summer.
The hip-hop mogul spotted the agents at about noon as he walked out of the W Hotel in Union Square, sources said. Once on the street, Rosemond walked north and tried to outrun the agents until he was finally arrested on 21st Street and Park Avenue South. The US Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn charged Rosemond in a complaint today with orchestrating the delivery of multiple kilos of cocaine from Los Angeles to the New York City metropolitan area. Millions of dollars in drug proceeds went from New York back to California, the complaint charged. (New York Post)
Showtime has announced planes to produce a documentary based on the life of Suge Knight.
The film “will delve deep into the life and storied exploits of the Death Row Records co-founder as well as the volatile and highly influential era in music that he presided over.”
Showtime promises Knight will “personally reveal exactly how it all happened, why it all fell apart, and what the next chapter holds for one of America’s most iconic and mythologized figures.”
“Suge Knight’s reputation and rise to power in the music business has become the stuff of legend,” said producer Bradley J. Fischer told CNN. “Antoine Fuqua and I are thrilled to be partnering with Showtime to tell this remarkable story and take audiences behind a curtain that most have been terrified to even approach.”
Knight will also be producing the soundtrack through his new company, Black Kapital.
